In Scale of Existence there is a relation between life and death – to be or not to be – at first being still just to start moving and growing, this in relation to our own bodies in the space, with time as an element of speed.
This work isa collection of five different materials that are all based on cellulose, which has been modified on various levels, beginning at a nano-scale. The five materials have been chosen with aspects of time and transformation in mind. Every material shows transformation in different scales and at various paces.
The main object is to show that all materials and matter has life – it is experienced through transformations that take place in various time perspectives and scales within the various pieces. This or that material was created for it together for a specific function, but in addition it has a soul – even our creations are alive. Life is not an exclusive quality of the traditional materials such as wood, stone, leather and wool.
At large it is about allowing the material to decide for itself,
The project has therefore been about seeing potentials, breaking down actual elements into their very physical essence and then to build up something new from this. I have analysed every material and allowed the individual qualities and particular strengths within these materials, to make the most important decisions in the process of their creation from nothing to material to finished piece. (From nothing at all to something indeed.)

3 What secrets do you see within me?
4 Are you the cause or the effect?

What is- the- matter Oracle?
Born in Iran, Farvash is a research-based artist whose practice is deeply rooted within Persian mythologies, histories, and ontologies.
Her practice focuses on transformative processes that span from micro-realities to navigating contemporary immigration guilt.
With a background in chemistry, she redefines scientific methods within the realm of material science and art. Creation of materials by studying characteristics, qualities, properties and behaviours from the smallest material component, nanotechnology and extends all levels to performance, lectures, and installations.
Her artworks are micro-realities, where each reality holds a system of logic, matter, persona linking to personal anecdotes and trauma.
Whoever holds the power to matter (present time: matter that gives revenue), in return, has power over the world.
